May 25, 2016
Our partner, friend and counselor, Jon T. Hirschoff, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
As a true counselor in the best tradition, Jon first learned the business and objectives of his many clients and then provided trusted legal advice as to how to achieve those objectives. He was also a brilliant and wise attorney who contributed greatly to the development of the law, including, most recently, as the Reporter of the American Bar Association's Model Asset Purchase Agreement, and to our firm, including as the long-time Chair of our Practice Standards Committee.
Jon was also a patient, caring and humorous man who loved assisting many non-profit organizations, such as the Long Wharf Theatre, trying new restaurants at bar conventions, playing tennis at the New Haven Lawn Club and cheering for his beloved Stanford Cardinal -- we shall long remember the picture of Jon and a friend dangling a huge "Beat Cal" sign from the Leaning Tower of Pisa. But more than anything, Jon loved his wife, Mikey, his two children and his granddaughter. We join our prayers with yours in wishing Jon's family peace, comfort and healing in this difficult time.
We will miss you, Jon, but you will forever be a part of this Firm as we continue to benefit from having had the privilege to work with you, to be mentored by you and to learn the law from you.
