Erik Bergman’s practice includes the representation of public and private companies, investment advisers, investment funds and institutional and individual investors in connection with acquisitions, dispositions, significant investments, corporate governance matters, regulatory and securities law matters and ongoing general representation. He has extensive experience representing clients with global operations and in a variety of industries, including serving in the role of outside general counsel. In the investment management space, he advises clients as to fund structuring and formation, preparation and review of fund offering documents and marketing materials, formation and registration of SEC and state registered investment advisers, development and implementation of compliance programs and procedures, ongoing compliance matters, regulatory examinations and other matters. In all areas of his practice, Erik draws on his extensive, real world experience to craft practical solutions to complex legal problems.
Prior to joining Finn Dixon & Herling in 1998, Erik was an associate at Pepe & Hazard LLP and Bingham Dana LLP. He has also worked in the Commissioner’s office at the Connecticut Department of Transportation and he served in the U.S. Navy before going to college. Erik received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, where he graduated with College Honors and Highest Honors and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from Yale Law School.
