Steven Gu grew up in Shanghai, China, and came to the U.S. at the age of thirteen. He majored in philosophy at Yale College, graduating cum laude in 2007. While at Columbia Law School, he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and along with classmates, founded the Columbia Journal of Tax Law. He is interested in the taxation of business entities and financial derivatives, and currently works in the corporate department.
